This will go over the standard tear-down and maintenance of a Smart Part Max-flo regulator. In this guide a Nerve reg is used but it is the exact same internals as a shocker reg, just different milling. First, unscrew the reg from the marker. Then, unscrew the brass endcap on the bottom. If you have an older style Max-flo, there will be a locking screw about 1/3 up the reg, this must be loosened before you turn the brass cap. When taken out, the cap, spring, and spring guide will come out. Then, loosen/remove the screw at the top. Take a large allen wrench that fits in the top and remove the top section. The poppit and small spring will then fall out. You can now push the piston out of the bottom of the regulator. You will need something long and thin, like a small allen wrench to push through the hole in the regulator body. Grease the piston well. Don't glob it on, but be generous. If you don't use much it can seize up. Get the oring well with a small coat on the rest of it. Use a q-tip to wipe this seal in the regulator clean. You want it to be clean and dry. This is where the poppit sits. Now, wipe off the seal near the bottom of the poppit by the base of the poppit spring so it is clean and dry. Also wipe off all the orings on the top portion of the reg and lightly grease them. Reassemble by placing the poppit in its corresponding hole in the regulator body, screw the top on. Place the piston in with the side-cutouts on the bottom. Put the spring guide and spring back in and the brass end cap back on. Tighten the screws down and you should be good to go.
